A WEATHER warning has been extended after a flurry of snow fell across the town this afternoon.
Snow fell for about half an hour from 3pm leaving a thin blanket of snow across the town.
A yellow warning for snow and ice which was in place for today has now been extended until noon tomorrow.
The warning covers large parts of the north of England, including the Bolton area.
The Met Office is warning that frequent heavy hail and snow are to be expected throughout Sunday which will lead to snow accumulating on many surfaces.
People are warned to expect longer journey times by road, bus and train and should plan ahead.
The weather is expected to clear up for the rest of the week when it is expected to be wet and windy.
