LITTLE Mark Glynn might only be 3ft 2in tall, but he has grown one of Bolton's biggest sunflowers, standing at a whopping 13 feet.

The three-year-old planted the sunflower seed in March and has nurtured it ever since, watering every day and feeding it twice a week.

The giant sunflower now reaches up to the window sill of Mark's parents, Julie and Simon Glynn's bedroom, upstairs at their terrace house in Hulton Lane, Deane.

Delighted Mrs Glynn, aged 38 - who is due to give birth to her third child today, a baby girl - said: "Mark is so pleased with his sunflower.

He has taken brilliant care of it and I'm sure it must be the biggest in Bolton."

The St Mary's RC Primary nursery pupil, who has an older sister, Laura, aged nine, was determined to grow a huge sunflower this year after last year's giant flower was chopped down by vandals.

Full-time mum, Mrs Glynn, said: "Mark was so upset when his sunflower was cut down last year.

"He'd worked really hard with that one and it was literally the day the flower bloomed that someone chopped the head off.

"But I think this has more than made up for it."
