BOSSES at Blackburn's newest nightclub Switch say they have a zero tolerance approach to trouble – after a social media post claimed a teenage reveller was beaten up at the venue.

Managers at the town centre club, which opened on Easter weekend and welcomed BBC Radio 1 DJ Charlie Sloth on Saturday, said the information posted online was inaccurate and that the injured 18-year-old had in fact started the fight.

A Facebook post, which was later deleted, said: "Not good when your son phones you at 5.20am and says he's off to hospital because his mate has been beaten up by four scumbags – happened inside Switch Blackburn."

The nightclub's managing director Darren Ofsarnie said: "We got straight on the the person on social media and she deleted her post.

"Things like that can be very damaging to our business.

"We run a tight ship and make sure all areas are covered by CCTV.

"We viewed the footage and got in touch with the woman who posted it to say her account was incorrect.

"The injured lad was the aggressor and had been kicking these people and they retaliated."

Switch said police had reviewed CCTV of the incident and were happy that the nightclub had dealt with the matter swiftly.

Mr Ofsarnie aaded: "Our doormen were there straight away. The lad got injured on the floor.

"We react straight away with things like this. We called an ambulance to get him out.

"The other people involved were ejected by our door staff.

"Things like this can happen anywhere but it's unfortunate that when it happens in a nightclub, the club can get a bad reputation."

Police said they were called to one incident at the St Peter Street club on Saturday but were unable to give any further information. No arrests were made and enquires are ongoing.
