FARNWORTH Cricket Club is hosting their first ever outdoor musical festival this weekend.

The music line-up includes local talent and rising stars who will have the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people.

On the main stage, bands like The Blues Brothers tribute, Oasys, Andy Ska and Steph and Mark will entertain festival goers.

The acoustic stage, which has been converted from an old caravan, is open to young buskers and local talent who want to perform.

Local live music and events promotion company, Made Up Name Promotions, will oversee the running of the event.

Event organiser and manager at Made Up Name Promotions Paul Welch, who is also a guitar teacher, said: “It should be a phenomenal day for families in the local area.

“We want to bring an event to the area where there will be something to do for everybody.”

The 49-year-old from Bolton has invited young local bands to play at the event.

He added: “Opening up the main stage will be a band called Wasted Jedi, who are made up of 12 to 15 year olds.

“It’s not often young talent will get the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds, maybe thousands, of people.”

There will be lots to do at the family friendly event including a fun fair, face painting and cartoonists.

Families will be spoilt for choice for food and drink with a hog roast, Spanish tapas stall and waffle stand on offer.

The bank holiday festival will take place on Sunday, May 6 from 1pm.

Farnworth Cricket Club is on Lavender Road, Bolton, BL4 0EA.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and under 4’s go free. They are available on ticketfest.co.uk or from behind the bar at the club.
