A CLASSIC detective story by the queen of crime fiction will be brought to the stage in Bolton later this month.

A Murder is Announced will be performed by St Vincent's Dramatic Society.

The cast is in the final weeks of rehearsal before they take to the stage to thrill audiences.

Chairman of the theatre company Howard Clare said: "We are very excited as we have never done an Agatha Christie play before and are thoroughly enjoying the experience.

"We are proud that our society is very family orientated as we have husband and wife brother and sister daughter and mother among our cast."

He added: "Our set has again been constructed by Owen Riley who is 88 years old along with Bert Halliday his apprentice of 76 years.

"They have between them constructed 43 sets for St Vincent’s D.S. Owen and Bert surprise us each time they do a set with their ingenuity."

The play runs from May 29 to June 2 at St Vincent’s Church Hall, Rutherford Drive, Bolton.
