SIXTH form students proved the had the je ne sais quoi quality when they took part in an international debtae.
Bolton School girls Caroline Blair and Maya Drummond reached the National Final of the Joutes Oratoires Lycéennes, a French-language debate competition.
The final was held at the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni in London on International Francophonie Da — a date when countries around the world celebrate speaking French through cultural events honouring the language.
Hundreds of sixth Form students from all over the UK competed for a place in the final.
The girls worked hard and put in a lot of effort working alongside Léa, the French Language Assistant, who supported them.
The Bolton School team won their first debate against King’s College Wimbledon, arguing against the motion ‘Voting should be compulsory’. However, they lost their second debate against Westminster while supporting the motion ‘Multilingualism is a barrier to the unity of a nation’. They were also interviewed in French for the Francophonie UK Facebook page.
