MORE than £500 has been raised by a kind-hearted five-year-old girl from Darcy Lever, who sacrificed her blonde hair to benefit others.

Lilah Gordon had 12 inches of her long hair cut off to raise money for The Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real-hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Her mum Lauren Gordon said: “I’m super proud of Lilah. We first discussed the idea of her donating her hair about six to eight months ago.

“I didn’t mention it for a while in case she would regret the decision! But she kept pushing the idea and said she wanted to donate her hair to other people.”

Lilah’s hair reached all the way down her back before mobile hairstylist Claire Riley, cut it off on Tuesday, May 1.

Now the year one pupil at St Matthew's CE Primary School in Little Lever, has her blonde hair cut into a trendy bob.

Ms Gordon added: “She loves her new haircut. She was so excited to get it done and now tells everyone about why she did it.”

Lilah proudly wore Little Princess Trust t-shirt while she had the chop.

As well as donating her hair to charity, Lilah and her mum have raised more than £590 for the Little Princess Trust so far. The money will go towards making the hair into a wig.

To date, the Little Princess Trust has been able to give away 6,000 wigs to children in need, according to their website.
