A LARGE fire lit up the night sky in Heaton during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The blaze, at a pallet yard off Gower Street, took fire crews from Farnworth around two-and-a-half hours to safely extinguish.
Watch manager Carl Haslam said: "Fortunately, the site was on industrial land away from homes, so no-one was injured, but people would have been able to see it from some distance."
Three fire engines were needed at the scene, along with a pump from Farnworth Fire Station and two from Bolton Central.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and police are currently investigating.
