SECURITY fencing will be erected around the old Great Lever Library after plans were approved this week.
Bolton's planning committee approved the 2.44m fencing at the back of the Bradford Road building.
The front will not be fenced off to maintain the 'historical merit' of the 'detailed façade' says the planning report.
The natural surveillance provided by the busy road in front of the building is thought to provide enough security for the site which has been the victim of two arson attacks this year.
£600,000 to regenerate the building has been approved by the council as part of the Great Lever Connected Programme.
