THIS year’s annual Bolton Big Day Out will be bigger and better than ever.

The popular family fun day, organised by Bridge Church, will take place in the field of Bolton Parish Church School and the inside and on the grounds of the church.

Events co-ordinator Steve Tilbrook said: “This is the fourth year of the event and it has grown over the years.

“Last year we attracted 3,000 visitors. People are hearing what a great family fun day it is.”

Organisers have laid on a whole host of attractions including, fairground rides, a flying display by birds of prey, climbing wall, children’s corner, craft stalls animals, displays a barbecue and representatives from Bolton Wanderers will be joining in the fun too as well and much more.

Mr Tilbrook said: “We organised the event to give the local community a fun day out.

“We close off the road so it becomes one big site for people.”

Shoppers can enjoy picking up a bargain or two at the car boot sale, for which people are invited to book a space for.

Any money raised on the day will go back in to supporting the community, for example to fund a travelling breakfast club for children in the area over the holidays, to supporting new mums with the essentials they need for their baby.

But, said Mr Tilbrook, the emphasis is firmly about local people enjoying a good day out.

“It is about meeting the community and for people to enjoy a good day of family fun. Any money raised will go towards supporting the projects that we run for the community.”

Bolton’s Big Day out takes place on July 7 from noon until 4pm. Entry is free.

For those wishing to book a space in the car boot sale for £10, should ring 01204361704.
