A PRESCHOOL has been celebrated as a "service that is continually improving" and for its "high-quality provision" after an inspection by watchdogs.

Abacus Pre-school Nursery, in Greenmount Lane, was recognised as "Good" or "Outstanding" in all areas, in a recently published report, following an Ofsted inspection in May.

Inspectors highly praised Abacus' for their children's personal development, behaviour and welfare, rating the provision as Outstanding. The report noted that "Parents say, 'Children thrive at the pre-school and love to learn and have new experiences'," adding that this was "evident in children's behaviour".

Children at the preschool were found to be enthusiastic and confident, having "an abundance of opportunities to extend their selfcare

skills and independence".

The report also celebrated the preschool's outcomes for children, with inspectors saying: "Children display positive attitudes in their learning and for the future, including for starting school."

Staff at Abacus were recognised as being very responsive to children's interests, and for changing the preschool's daily routine to reflect this.

The report said:"Staff are enthusiastic in their interactions with children, and children in turn respond with enthusiasm in their play."

It further added: "Staff support children who have a special educational needs and/or disabilities very well. They include them in all activities and work well with other professionals to support children's developing communication and language skills."

Finally, leadership and management, and safeguarding at Abacus were found to be effective — with Ofsted inspectors noting that the preschool's "management team and staff implement rigorous systems to help to keep children safe."

Oliver Faulds from Abacus Pre-school said: "We are a small nursery and as a result have a really great bond with all the parents and children.

"The team work amazingly together and all had their part to play in the amazing Ofsted result that we got.

"We were so pleased with the result and also our staff and how well they all did.

"Our team of Bev, Emily, Sheridan, Alanah, Sheryl and of course Karen each brought something amazing to the day.

"We are also holding an open day for any parents who would like to join on Saturday the 28th of July from 11:30am to 1:30pm, there will be fun provided for all the family."
