A FOOTBALL tournament in memory of the thousands of men and boys killed in the Sebrenica genocide will take place later this month.

The We Are One Football match will take place on Friday, July 13, with school teams and businesses or just a group friends are invited to enter.

The match is designed to symbolise scoring a victory against hatred and intolerance in the 23rd anniversary year of Sebrenica.

It is one of a number of football tournaments and events taking place across the country, with July 11 being declared Srebrenica Memorial Day.

A total of 8,000 men and boys were killed in the massacre by Bosnian Serb forces during the Balkans war.

The football tournament in Bolton has been organised by the National Education Union, which organised one last year.

It will take place at 3.30pm at Lever Park School in Horwich.
