AN UP and coming musician is attempting to break a world record to celebrate his debut album and he is starting in Bolton.

Tom Grennan, whose debut record Lighting Matches launched on Friday, is kicking off his world record attempt in Breightmet bar Henighans in Bury Road.

Mr Grennan is attempting to break the record for the most concerts in multiple towns in 12 hours.

The 23-year-old from Bedford said: "I've never been to Bolton before so I don't know what to expect. I don't know the town apart from Bolton Wanderers and Peter Kay. We're raring to go and we're confident we're going to do it."

After the gig he and his lighting and sound team will be rushing to Knutsford for the next one.

Grennan's attempt begins at 6.45am and it is all planned to finish before 7pm at the final venue in Marlborough so as to not clash with the Croatia v England semi final match.

There will be a 15 minute set at each venue and his audience must be10 or more to qualify.
