THERE were certainly laughs aplenty when The Bethel Crowd Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society staged The Happiest Days of Your Life.
The farce by John Dighton was performed at Westhoughton United Reformed Church in Leigh Road in 1979.
The comedy, which was turned into what is regarded as film classic by Frank Launder, is set during September 1949 when St Swithin's Girls' School is accidentally billeted at Nutbourne College: a boys' school.
The Happiest Days of Your Life is one of his Digton's hugely popular stage plays, with Who Goes There being another winner.
The play is seen as a precursor to the hugely successful St Trinian’s series.
