While many grooms are busy nursing a hangover on the morning of their wedding day, this one was up early to take part in his 200th Bolton parkrun.

Adam Connell, 32, ran the milestone parkrun with his best man, Richard Devan, who joined him from Reading on June 30.

The pair had special t-shirts made for the event and were cheered on by other runners and friends who came to watch.

Adam said: “Everybody was really friendly. I know quite a few people at the parkrun now. You just get to know people there.”

After the run, Adam came home to a cooked breakfast before joining fiancée Vicky at the church to tie the knot.

Adam met Vicky, 34, online some years ago and the couple got married at a church in Swinton last month before celebrating with guests at Holiday Inn in Bolton.

Talking about the wedding, he said: “It was absolutely fantastic.”

In total, Adam has entered 230 park runs over the last five years including events in Horwich, Worsley, Heaton Park, Leeds and London.

Adam has also volunteered a number of times at the Bolton parkrun which takes place at Leverhulme Park every Saturday at 9:00am.
