A MAN who died after he was attacked in a block of flats has been named as 37-year-old Michael Peers.

Mr Peers died after 12.20am on Sunday following what has been described as a disturbance in Brownlow Way involving a group of people.

Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of murder — five men aged 35, 43, 45, 46 and 58, and three woman aged 36, 50 and 53.

They all remain in custody for questioning.

Detective chief inspector Jamie Daniels, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We have had officers working around the clock to establish exactly what happened in the hours leading up to Michael’s death.

“Specially trained officers continue to support Michael’s family at this difficult time and my thoughts remain with them.

“We know that a disturbance took place in the block of flats in the house before Michael died, so it’s really important that anyone who heard this - or saw anything in the early hours of Sunday night- shares this with police.
