TOWN hall chiefs have moved to reassure parents over the future of Castle Hill Primary School after questions were asked about the cost of running the building that houses it.
Fears over the Castle Hill Centre — also a base for training rooms, a youth centre and offices — were raised after members of Bolton Council’s audit committee asked for the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract it operates under to be looked at again.
Conservative Cllr Martyn Cox questioned if the £1.7m annual payments to Bellrock for the Tonge Moore centre were value for money.
But a council spokesman said: “We understand a few councillors have put forward suggestions to review the PFI contract with Castle Hill.We would like to reassure staff, users, parents and pupils at the school that the PFI contract will continue as per usual and we are not moving out of the building.
“Should the scrutiny committee chairman agree to review the contract then the financial implications of all options would be considered before any decisions were made.”
