A TRAMPOLINE club is hoping it will be bouncing into an exciting future if its plans for a new home get the go-ahead.

Bolton Trampoline Club has submitted proposals to use a soon-to-be-vacated vehicle repair shop, in Farnworth, as its new base - but will need permission for a change of use.

The club has been using St Catherine’s Academy for the past six years but last year the Harwood school served it notice to move out by the end of August 2018.

It has been searching for a new home since and has now applied to Bolton Council to take on Egerton Works, in Egerton Street.

Karen McCurdy, chairwoman of the club said: "If we don't get the application through we are going to really struggle as a club to continue, because we have nowhere to turn.

"We've been searching for the last 12 months to find a suitable venue, but we've not been able to find anywhere with the height we need.

"Hopefully we can get approval for the planning application and, rather than have an empty unit, they will pass us a change of use so we can continue."

Ms McCurdy added that the new venue would allow it to hold sessions in the day, as well as evening and weekends.

She said: "We have big plans, so fingers crossed everything works to our advantage."

A planning statement submitted with the application says the building will meet its needs for a large open space, with high ceilings and loading doors.

It adds: “The proposal will not only result in the establishment of a new community facility in this area of Bolton, but will bring investment and sustainable economic growth to the area.”

And it claims the new base would will bring both health and community cohesion benefits.

It says: “The club not only promotes health and fitness, but engenders aspiration and confidence.Bolton Trampoline Club is proud of its achievements and has many testimonies from members, parents and teachers that commend the club with helping to develop strong and confident young people.”
