Staff working for Bolton Council services have celebrated being rated as good across the board in their adult care provision.

Laburnum Lodge residential intermediate care home, in Breightmet, provides a flexible approach for service users. It offers a step up and step down service to meet individuals’ changing needs, whilst providing rehabilitation within an integrated, friendly and homely environment, when these needs are unable to be met at home.

Wilfred Geere House, in Farnworth, cares for vulnerable people with dementia and offers families a break from caring for their loved ones. Wilfred Geere also provides a discharge to assess facility for those diagnosed with dementia diagnosis that requires a period of assessment or rehabilitation. The service has staff who have received enhanced dementia training and pride themselves in the high quality of care this allows them to provide to the services most vulnerable clients.

Home Support Re-ablement provides wrap around care within the home, supporting people to remain at home whilst receiving personally tailored packages of care to rehabilitate them to meet their full potential.

The ethos of all these services is to provide a person-centred approach with the emphasis on enabling people to be engaged and feel supported in their remaining strengths.

Being a part of these integrated teams is rewarding for the staff as it allows them to be part of our service users’ recovery and their improvement.

All have been given ‘Good’ ratings by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with staff described as caring, kind and hard-working.

And as a thank you a celebration was organised for their hard work, dedication and achievements. It featured a variety of games with the service users. A buffet and singers entertained all the service users and staff during an afternoon of fun.

“All our services provide valuable support to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and work closely with the NHS and are our other partners to provide the best care with the best possible outcomes for the people of Bolton,” said Councillor Debbie Newall, Executive Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health.

“To celebrate we wanted to do something to thank them for all their hard work and wonderful success and provide an opportunity to express how proud we are of all our provider services

"The CQC inspection is rigorous and looks at so many areas, including the views of residents, their relatives and professionals. It’s always nice for the carers to receive compliments from residents and their relatives.”
