Boldly going where no steam railway has gone before, the Sci-fi on the Sidings weekend will take place across the line on August 18 and 19.
Over the weekend visitors will be able to step into the fantastical worlds of Star Wars, Doctor Who, Jurassic World, Harry Potter and many more as they take in marvellous displays and rub shoulders with host of their favourite sci-fi and pop-culture characters.
The event will see Bury's Bolton Street station become home to Star Wars and Doctor Who while over in Ramsbottom would be rulers of Westeros can claim the Iron Throne

The annual Edgworth & District Horticultural Society Show returns to The Barlow on Saturday with adult & junior classes in flowers, vegetables, floral art, cookery, craft, art & photography There will also be plant and vegetable sale from local growers and refreshments available all day. Trophies and prizes will be presented at 3.30pm

Heaton Fold Garden Centre’s artisan market returns on Sunday and it’s bigger and better than ever.
The monthly market will feature more than 20 food, gift and handmade craft stalls.
A selection of food including chocolates, cakes, cheeses and award-winning pork pies will be on offer as well ascrafts, artwork and jewellery.
The market will be open from 10am to 3pm, at the garden centre on Overdale Drive, off Chorley New Road. Free parking is available.

This weekend is the last chance for you to visit the Power UP event at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
The annual ode to retro gaming has made a welcome return, bringing consoles new and old to visitors for two weeks of seriously pixelated fun.
From casual players to hardcore gamers, Power UP 2018 invites everyone to exercise their thumbs and get their game faces back on.
The event coincides with the Year of Engineering events, aimed at kids from five.
The Spinning Mule in Nelson Square, Bolton and The Robert Shaw in Market Street , Westhoughton
GIN lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of up to 15 gins from the UK and overseas during an 11-day festival at two pubs in Bolton.
Bolton’s The Spinning Mule in Nelson Square and Westhoughton’s The Robert Shaw in Market Street will both be serving gins from Japan, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Italy, as well as gins produced in the UK.
