A DRIVER is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision at 1am yesterday.
A dark blue Honda CRV crashed through railings on the Kearsley traffic island over the A666 and collided with a tree.
The driver, aged in his 20s, was driving from Clifton along Bolton Road towards Kearsley Island when he collided with the central barrier as he approached the roundabout, said police.
He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he is being treated.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
PC Philip Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are looking to trace the Honda’s movements around Bolton in the lead up to the collision.
“If you have dash cam footage from late last night or early this morning, or saw anything that could help with our enquiries, please contact police as soon as you can.”
Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or make an anonymous report through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
One lane of the roundabout was closed to traffic until a recovery vehicle could remove the crumpled wreck of the car.
