A DONOR has been found for a five-year-old girl who needs a stem cell transplant.
In June, hundreds of people from Bolton attended mouth swabbing sessions at the Shree Kutch Swaminarayan Temple and Veda Mandir to try to help the girl, Kaiya Patel who has an aggressive and rare form of leukaemia.
The Bolton Hindu Forum said: “We are happy to inform you that a donor has been found for Kaiya who was in dire need of a stem cell transplant.
“After a national campaign which saw over 200 people sign up, just in Bolton, a matching donor has now been found.”
The donor will remain anonymous until the treatment is carried out and has proved a success in helping Kaiya.
In a Facebook post Kaiya said: “I am going to be six on September 2, but before I have a party, I am going to have a transplant to help me get better. Many people have wished me well from the doctors and nurses to family and friends and those I have met yet.”
