Sergeant Danny Kabal, from GMP’s tactical vehicle intercept unit, said: “Thanks to the quick-thinking actions of officers from TVIU we were able to safely arrest a man.

“My officers were assisted by their colleagues from the specialist operations branch and a police helicopter.

"This was a great example of how we work together as a team to keep the public safe and we can’t forget police dog Manpol Jax who was instrumental in swiftly apprehending the man.

"Traffic was brought to a standstill while we dealt with this incident and I would like to thank the public for their patience during this."
