THE world was a very different place in 1980.

The Thatcher era had only just begun, ABBA, Blondie and Bowie were perforating the airwaves, perms were in vogue and the Farnworth Amateur Operatic Society performed My Fair Lady.

But for all that has changed some things remain the same because the society is back and ready to do it all again 38 years later!

Farnworth Performing Arts will host a welcome evening for anyone who would like to be involved in any way in their production of My Fair Lady which will run next year nearly 40 years after the original production at St James' School, Farnworth.

This time Farnworth Performing Arts will be performing at the Albert Halls on April 10 until April 13, 2019 with a new production team.

Sandra Blyth appeared as a member of the cast when the society last performed the musical back in 1980 and will this time be a key member of the production team.

She said: “This will be a unique opportunity to see a fantastic musical at such a special venue like the Albert Halls. Anyone who is interested in either helping as a member of the production team or being a cast member should come to the welcome evening.” Mrs Blyth is one of around a dozen original cast members who will be involved in the rerun after the licence for My Fair Lady became available again after several years.

The show features some of the greatest musical songs of all time, including: Wouldn’t it be Lovely’, ‘I Could have Danced all Night’, and ‘On the Street Where you Live’.

The welcome evening will take place on the September 10 at Bolton Cricket Club in Green Lane.

Auditions for the parts will take place the following week.
