FOLLOWING our appeal in last week's Looking Back pages for readers to get in touch with their pictures of old Bolton, reader Cynthia Pearcy contacted us with these delightful pictures.

Cynthia grew up in Horwich and the pictures show three generations of Cynthia's family, all pictured at Scotsman's Stump, just beyond the mast on Winter Hill.

The middle picture was taken on August, 10, 1935, and is of Cynthia's mother, then Eveline Peak, and her friend, Doris Mackenzie.

Cynthia said: "Doris is still living — she was 101 in April!"

I saw in the Looking Back column on Wednesday that you were asking if anyone had any old pictures of our life spent in and around Bolton.

The picture, far left, was taken in 1954. Cynthia explained: "It's mum (married by this time, and now Eveline Hearsey), my brother and me. I am six years old."

The big picture, far right, was taken in 1981, and is Cynthia and her two children, Kathryn, then aged nine and Gary, then seven.

nIf you have old pictures of your life in an around Bolton, we would love to see them. Send them to newsdesk@theboltonnews.co.uk
