A MAN escaped with only minor injuries after his car hit a lamppost and flipped onto its back at a motorway exit.
The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Thursday night, at the Horwich Interchange, junction 6 of the M61.
Ambulance services treated a 25-year-old man, the driver of the car, who was lucky to escape with minor injuries despite heavy damage to the vehicle.
The man was then taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance service said: "We attended the scene at around 11.35 after reports that a car had been involved in a collision.
"The vehicle had hit a lamppost and landed on its roof.
"The man, in his mid-20s was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Royal Bolton Hospital."
