The Rope and Anchor is leading the race for Bolton West’s Parliamentary Pub of the Year.

Each MP is allowed to nominate one pub from their constituency for the award which is in its first year.

The four pubs shortlisted by MP Chris Green are Tails and Ale in Horwich, The Rope an Anchor in Atherton, Rosehill Tavern in Westhoughton and The Beaumont Arms in Ladybridge.

Members of the public can vote by visiting Chris Green’s Facebook page and liking the photo of the pub that deserves to win by 12 noon on September 27.

All three Bolton MPs have recently pressed the government to take measures in the autumn budget to combat the decline of community pubs.

Sir David Crausby is also asking for nominations for pubs in his constituency.

He explained that the main criteria for nominations is that the pub is great at what it does whether that's food, drink, service, music or sports.

Nominations for pubs in Bolton North East should be emailed to david.crausby.mp@parliament.uk by 5pm on September 16.

Bolton South East MP Yasmin Qureshi announced this week that she is welcoming nominations for pubs in her constituency.

The Labour MP asked constituents to include a description of the pub and an explanation of why it’s great.

She said: “The pubs in Bolton South East are a wonderful lynch-pin of our vibrant, diverse community and play a huge role in the national fabric.”

Nominations for pubs in her constituency should be emailed to yasmin.qureshi.mp@parliament.uk by September 23.
