FINALLY, it looks like a film of Downton Abbey will be made.
The series began life in 2010 and ended in 2015 but during that time, the absorbing tales of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants topped the ratings and won awards everywhere.
It became totally compulsive viewing and boosted the careers of everyone from Hugh Bonneville as the Earl of Grantham to Jim Carter as butler Carson.
Now, after three years of rumour and possibilities, the Downton film is apparently going ahead, with writer Julian Fellowes creating a script that “charms, thrills and entertains” according to producer Gareth Neame.
We can expect most of the original cast to be involved – but without the odd one like Lily James who was going off to America in the series and has actually gone off to the States to make a name for herself with both Disney movies and the blockbusting Mamma Mia follow-up film.
Now, we Downton fans are just desperately looking forward to its release. Get that popcorn ready!
