ROCKERS Jordan Allen will be performing in the historic St John's Minster in Preston as part of a five-act indie-rock show.

The Bolton band, which recently performed at the Big Thank You gig at Rivington Terraced Gardens, is part of the line-up for the first ALTR 2018 Concert being held at the stunning venue.

The doors of the cathedral, built in 1855, will open on September 22 for the aptly named gig, featuring The Sherlocks, Jordan Allen, Twisted Wheel, The Empire Police and Life At The Arcade.

Lead singer Jordan said: " I don’t think we’ve ever played in a cathedral before so that’ll be pretty cool.

"It looks amazing and we’ve got a good following in Preston and have done lots of good shows there including headline shows, the last time we played there on our tour we sold out."

This concert is the first in a series of ALTR gigs to be held in the prestigious location.

ALTR 2018 is described as a show that "combines the traditional locales of Britain with a more contemporary event".

Jordan said: "We’ve done a few shows for the promoter Dan Morris who runs Guild Hall in Preston before, done shows with The Sherlock’s as well so was just kind of a natural choice really. We’ve got a good fan base in Preston so we definitely bring a lot to the bill."

Jordan Allen have previously toured with The Sherlocks in early 2017.

"We’ve done stuff with Sherlocks in the past and Twisted Wheel have been one of my favourite bands since I was a kid so it’ll be great to finally play with them," said Jordan,“It’ll be a really good day, it’s opening for first time as music venue which is cool as well being part of the initiation”.

The Sherlocks, from Bolton Upon Dearne in Yorkshire, released their debut album, Live For The Moment, last year which entered the UK album charts at number six.

Twisted Wheel, formed in 2007 in Saddleworth. The four-piece are the only band on the ALTR 2018 line-up to have shared a stage with Britpop pioneers Oasis, having supported them in 2007 in Heaton Park.

They will be playing songs from their upcoming album, which is set to be released in autumn of this year.

The Empire Police met while studying a music technology course while at Preston’s Cardinal Newman College. The band pride themselves on their diverse range of musical influences including The Sherlocks!

Jordan said: "It’s a really strong bill there’s a couple of really strong bands opening it — it's probably one of the best bills we’ve played on for a one-off show so definitely one to come down to if you’re an indie fan."

Life At The Arcade have been playing since in 2015. Their music, live recordings, and demos have gained plaudits and radio plays on the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 music, and BBC Radio 1.
