THE cast of Bolton Little Theatre dressed for success in their production of a Ronald Harwood play.

The curtains first came up on The Dresser at the Royal Exchange Theatre in March 1980 and was performed by the local theatre just three years later in January 1983.

The play tells the story of an ageing actor's personal assistant, who struggles to keep his bosses life together.

The Dresser moved to the West End in April 1980 with Freddie Jones as "Sir" and Tom Courtenay as Norman.

The play was nominated for Best Play at the Society of West End Theatre Awards now known as the Laurence Olivier Awards. In 2016 a production directed by Sean Foley and starring Ken Stott and Reece Shearsmith played theatres including the Duke of York's Theatre in London's West End.
