Head for the hills in Ramsbottom

GET your wellies packed and your glitter ready for the last festival of the season, right on the Bolton doorstep.

The fun starts on Friday afternoon and carries on right through until Sunday night with a performance by Irish legends The Boomtown Rats with frontman Bob Geldof. Headline set on Friday night is indie-electro quartet the Slow Readers Club. German bands Giant Rooks and Razz feature on Saturday and poet Tony Walsh will be giving a special performance on Saturday evening. Down deep with The Meg

GET ready from some ocean horror as The Meg shows at The Light cinema, Bolton, this week.

In almost two hours on nail-biting action a massive creature, which makes Jaws look like a minnow, attacks a deep-sea submersible leaving it at the bottom of a Pacific trench.

The crew faces a race against time to survive.

There are several showings of the movie each day.

Monster machines in action

FANCY some monster trucking? Then get yourself to Truckfest North West at the Cheshire Showground, Knutsford, on Saturday and Sunday.

As well as competitions and car crushing action from the Swamp Thing 4x4, pictured above, there will be motorcycle displays and special appearances from the stars of Ice Road Truckers and Love Island, a fun fair and live music.

Murder is in the air

HARWOOD Library is breaking out the board games together with Age UK.

So get ready for Scrabble and Dominoes with over 50s invited.
