BOLTON Council's chief executive has hailed a Farnworth youth club as 'an inspiration' following a visit to their base.

Tony Oakman visited Zac's Youth Bar, in Market Street, this week to learn more about the work the charity does with youngsters.

The youth club recently held a six-week summer program, providing hundreds of young people aged 10-18 with free activities during the school holidays.

Following his visit, Mr Oakman said: “It was a privilege to visit Zac’s in Farnworth. The team were an inspiration and demonstrated the many good things about young people and how they are making a positive difference where it is needed most.”

Matt Moreton – CEO of The Sycamore Project, which runs Zac's Youth Bar, added: “Having Tony with us was a great opportunity for the whole team to see the wider picture, beyond Farnworth – and how the work we do fits in to the wider plan for achieving a better Bolton over the next few years.

"It was also a real encouragement for us to know that the hard work of our team, and the difference they make, is valued by Bolton Council from the very top."

Zac’s will re-open with its term time youth program for young people aged 10-18 on Thursday. For more information, www.zacsyouthbar.co.uk.
