A WINE and cocktail bar is vowing to serve up an upmarket experience for customers.

The Lamp Bar on Market Street in Atherton held a grand opening, with visitors impressed by the decor's references to the setting of BBC hit drama Peaky Blinders.

Its menu range has been described as extensive with some quirky options available.

The bar's friendly and intimate atmosphere has also been praised along with its comfortable seating.

Director Carol Ince and her son, Daniel Sargent, the owner, are both from Atherton. It is the first bar they have taken control of.

Carol said: "There is a very close community spirit in Atherton and there are lots of housing developments planned in the area so we thought it was a good time to open an upmarket bar here.

"There are other bars have have opened in the town recently too and we want to provide somewhere different for people to go to and help the economy in the area.

"We have had lots of positive comments so far on social media too."
