A MUCH loved music event is set to get even bigger as the Bolton Punx Picnic has announced it will move to a larger capacity venue for their next get together.

After two years at The Alma Inn the event will move to The Churchgate pub in the town centre for the 2019 Punx Picnic.

With a fully equipped stage area and more space for fans, event organisers have hailed their new home.

Event organiser Martin Unsworth said: "The venue offers us an opportunity to grow the event. Ticket sales year on year are increasing and with the picnic gig now centrally located it may appeal to a wider audience.

"We had so many people take an interest in this year’s Punx Picnic and they had nothing but praise for it, live music events in Bolton are sparse to say the least. People were glad to be part of the occasion."

Fourteen bands are set to play across two stages when the picnic returns on June 29.

Next year's line-up already boasts young Bolton punks Kill the Masters as well as Scotland's Past Midnight and Blacklist, Oi scene stalwarts Section 5 and more.

Event organiser Angelina Johnson said: "We will have much more going on at next year’s Picnic gig, not just music, lots to take in on the day, we are still making plans and we are sure that it will all come together on the day."

Tickets for next year's Punx Picnic, priced £12, are available from The Churchgate or Punkboot Promotions Facebook page.
