THE next round of voting to find Bury’s favourite pub is now open.

Last month, Bury North MP, James Frith urged people to nominate their best-loved local for the prestigious Parliamentary Pub of the Year award.

25 nominees were put out to a public vote last month and have now been whittled down to the top five.

713 people took part in the first stage of voting and the top five pubs chosen were as follow:

Irwell Works Brewery, in Ramsbottom, The Major, in Ramsbottom, The Old White Lion, in Bury, The White Boar, in Bury, and The Victoria Walshaw.

Mr Frith will now visit each pub and invite locals to make the case for each boozer before holding a final vote to determine the official Bury North nomination for the award.

Residents of Bury North can vote at jamesfrith.org/puboftheyear2018.

The vote will close on Thursday, September 27.
