GET out your handbags and gladrags — Rod Stewart will be sailing into Bolton next summer.

The Scottish rocker will bring his Live in Concert tour to the University of Bolton Stadium on Friday, June 14, the final date in a series of concerts to be held at football stadiums around the UK.

It is the latest big-name to come to the stadium after The Killers and Little Mix played to sell-out crowds there in the summer.

The tour will be Rod’s first in three years and will feature many classic hits plus songs from his new album, Blood Red Roses.

The announcement follows sold-out concerts this summer at the stadium from Little Mix and The Killers.

Suzanne Speak, general manager of Bolton Whites Hotel, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Rod Stewart to the University of Bolton Stadium next summer.

"After staging two successful concerts this summer, our venue is back on the map from a live music point of view.

"We believe it's the first time Rod has been back to Bolton for over 50 years and we are certain that everybody will have a fantastic time."

It is believed Rod last visited Bolton as a member of the group Steampacket.

One of the most successful singers of all time, Rod Stewart has sold more than 200 million records worldwide in a career that spans six decades.

Now 73, he has had more than 30 hit singles in the UK and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2016, he officially became Sir Rod Stewart after being knighted by Prince William at Buckingham Palace for his services to music and charity.

The fully seated tour is being promoted by Cuffe and Taylor whose director, Peter Taylor, said: “We are delighted to be announcing Rod Stewart Live In Concert.

“As his fans know, Rod presents the most amazing shows. He continues to play to huge audiences across the globe and it is an absolute pleasure to once again be taking him across the UK once to reach tens of thousands of people who will have the most incredible night watching him perform live.”
