A RECRUITMENT fair is being held to find the best workforce for Bolton’s changing healthcare.

As the health sector merges with the council’s social care provision new opportunities for work are emerging.

Next month the fair will offer visitors a range of information and opportunities from a number of key partners in the town, including the voluntary and community sector, Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust, Bolton Cares, Bolton University and 1point.

Chairman of NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Wirin Bhatiani, said: “Health and social care in Bolton is changing and we have been working in partnership with Bolton Council and the hospital foundation trust for some time to deliver an improved and more efficient system.

“One element of this is to create a diverse and skilled workforce that is unique to Bolton. It is an exciting time to work in the health and care sector, and such a rewarding profession to be a part of. We are looking for the best people to join us and be proud to work in the town. This event will be the first of many for us to show why we believe ‘it’s better to be in Bolton’ and a great opportunity for someone to find their ideal job.”

At the fair there will also be helpful information on how to apply to be a nurse, social worket or care assistant and information on the right training.

Paul Henshaw, head of resourcing for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust said: “As one of the biggest employers in Bolton we feel this event will be a great opportunity to showcase the wide range of job and career opportunities we have to offer. Our staff will be present on the day to speak to people attending the event and answer any questions about working or volunteering in the Trust.”

Executive cabinet member for adult social care and health, Cllr Debbie Newall, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the first ‘It’s Better to Be in Bolton’ recruitment event.

“We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of everyone in Bolton and recruiting dedicated and talented staff is part of achieving that.

“We already know that Bolton is a fantastic place to live and work.

“This event is an ideal opportunity to share that message while encouraging more people to take up a rewarding career.”

The event will be held on Saturday, October 6 from 10am to 4pm in Festival Hall at Bolton Town Hall and is free to attend.

The entrance will be via the Albert Halls.
