A WEATHER warning has been issued with strong winds set to to batter the North West today.

The Met Office has put the yellow weather warning for wind in place for the region from 11am-6pm.

Storm Bronagh has blown into the UK and is expected to bring with it a spell of strong gusty winds accompanied by heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Wind speeds could reach as high as 60mph, and people are being warned to expect the possibility of bus and train services being affected through falling trees or branches; short term losses of power; delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport; and delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
