A HOMEOWNER who wants to extend the front and back of his property has been told to come back with new proposals after planning chiefs found they were out-of-keeping-with the rest of the street.
Members of Bolton Council’s planning committee found that an application from Vipul Patel, who lives in Alberta Street, Rumworth, would be too dominant.
They agreed with an officer’s report that it would “cause harm to the living conditions” of the neighbouring property.
But Fahad Patel, who spoke in support of the applicant, said he had fallen foul in a change in policy, as the next door property — and others in the street had similarly large extensions.
He said: “The applicant only want to create and proposes an extension similar to what already exists not only next door but in the area.”
But Cllr Nick Peel successfully moved the motion for deferral, citing established precedent. He said: “I’m going to go down that route to give him the chance to come back with plans that are more acceptable.”
