SEVEN people arrested in connection with child sexual exploitation in Bolton have been released under investigation.

The six men, aged 18, 18, 28, 25, 21 and 29; and one 17-year-old boy were arrested earlier this year after a report that a teenage girl had been groomed and raped by a number of men in Blackrod since March 2016.

They were subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries, and have now been released under investigation.

Officers will continue to interview witnesses to establish if there are any further victims and offenders who need to be traced, police have said.

Anyone with information on child sexual exploitation is encouraged to call Greater Manchester Police's specialist team on 0161 856 5757, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
