A TEENAGER has completed the gruelling ‘Three Peaks’ mountain challenge – having never climbed a mountain before.

Despite being struck down with severe sickness and blackened feet, Sebastian Fitzharris, from Daubhill, has helped to raise more than £2,000 for the Bolton Hospice.

They clambered up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours.

Seb, 18, and pals Kelby Makin, Thomas Howarth, Thomas Shielders, James Newton and Ben Eastwood, began the daunting challenge earlier this month.

Seb said he ‘underestimated how hard it would be’.

He added: “Until this month, I’d never climbed a mountain before. I only did four short walks as training, too.

“I set off in my shiny new boots came home with blackened toes and proper fatigue.

“I couldn’t walk for four days after."

Surprisingly he is ‘pleased’ that he endured so much pain as it pushed people to donate more.

Most of those who joined him on the walk have a strong family connection with the hospice

During the challenge they walked 23 miles with 10,052ft of ascent.

Seb said: “Going up Ben Nevis was great. It was nice and sunny, and the views were amazing. We were up and down in six hours.”

But the easy day stopped there.

Getting lost on the way back in freezing, foggy, rain the boys walked for an hour in the wrong direction.

“I got back to the minibus and my body just collapsed. I had to keep stopping the bus to be sick” he said.

After a tough day Seb is incredibly proud but it is highly unlikely he will be taking on any similar challenges any time soon.

Seb said: “Has it made a mountain climber out of me? Not really!

“Let’s just say I’ve done three head shaves for charity and they were a lot easier!..”
