THE league had a one-hundred-per-cent winning record in the Lancashire FA Sunday Trophy at the weekend.

Three teams from the Bolton at Home Sunday League marched on into the third round.

Last season’s champions, Top Club, travelled to Eccles to take on the much-fancied Moorgate and, thanks to two excellent finishes by Lewis Porter, they ran out 2-1 victors.

The BSL team had a bad start when they saw key midfielder Tom Jones sent off for a mistimed tackle after just 20 minutes.

The numbers were evened up, however, on the half-hour mark when Travis Vaughn rounded the goalkeeper who brought down the prolific striker as he was about to put the ball into the empty net on the edge of the penalty area.

The challenge earned the home keeper a red card and just before half time Lewis Porter gave the Little Hulton side the lead with an excellent curling shot into the top corner.

Top Club doubled the lead five minutes into the second period through Porter's second of the day. And while Moorgate pulled one back with 20 minutes to go Top Club never looked like letting victory slip from the grasp.

Bolton Town have had an excellent start to the season and carried it into Sunday's cup tie at home to Old Town from Ormskirk.

A hard-fought 2-0 victory was earned with goals from Dillon Hewitt and Leon Farrimond.

However, without doubt the hero was goalkeeper Lee-Max Crompton with some excellent saves.

League leaders Bolton Lads Club maintained their early-season momentum with a comfortable 4-1 victory at home to Blackburn Eagles to cruise into the next round, Mark Eccles, Jack Leigh, Kane Mills and a penalty from Jay Ralphson sealing the victory at Hacken Lane.

In the league, Newbury’s prolific striker Dominic Sharples scored a magnificent seven of his teams 13 goals as they beat lowly Tempest 13-2.

And with Bolton Lads Club and Top Club on cup duty, the win meant a rise to the top of the league for the team managed by Graham Sharples, the longest-serving manager in league.

Nathan Hatton scored a hat-trick as Deane cruised to a 5-1 victory over newly-formed Grapes at Ladybridge, Yaz Smajic and Haydon Alderson scoring Deane's other two with Leroy West getting the consolation for Grapes.

Breightmet Wanderers and Unity Brook got their first points of the season in an entertaining 3-3 draw – M Makin, D Sheehan and J Richardson getting the goals for Wanderers with Liam Churchill, Christian Richards and Connor Evans replying for Unity Brook.
