THE venue for the upcoming Blackrod Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) home show has been changed due to 'a booking confusion'.

The competition, which is usually held at Horwich RMI Club, will this year take place at the Rose Club in Atherton Road, Hindley.

Each year, the event attracts between 200 and 300 people, including dozens of young contestants from across the North West.

Head coach Rick Godding, from Blackrod, said: "We have had to change our venue at short notice and want to ensure ticket holders are aware.

"We have been using Horwich RMI for years. We had made a booking but when we telephoned a week and a half in advance of the event to make sure everything was ready to go on the night, we were told they had no record of the booking.

"More than 100 tickets have gone out with Horwich RMI as the venue."

This Friday, young boxers from Blackrod ABC will compete against other clubs across the North West and showcase their talents.

Former professional boxer Mr Godding said: "Please come along and show your support to our local talent. The boxers work extra hard all year round for nights like these.

"We hope to see you all there."

Horwich RMI Club has been approached for a comment.

Doors open from 7pm, with the boxing starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets, at £12 for adults and £6 for children, can be purchased on the door or from Tricky's Gym Ltd in Blackrod.
