POLICE are urging parents to ensure they know what their children are up to after vandalism at a school.

GMP Bolton North shared a warning of the potential dangers of trespassing, on Facebook, along with several photographs, following an incident at Red Lane Primary School, in Breightmet, last month.

The disturbing photos show the school building and yard splattered with paint and litter strewn in the grounds after pupils broke in during the summer holidays and embarked on a trail of destruction.

Officers noted that this was not the first time children had sneaked onto school premises, and even climbed roofs, to commit acts of vandalism — including smashing windows.

The GMP Bolton North Facebook post read: "Do you know what your Children are up to?

"These pictures are of damage that was caused on the 040818 to Red lane primary school we are sad to say by local children who gained access to the school during the summer holidays and it isn’t the first time damage has been caused to school property, quite often these children get onto the roof of this school sometimes smashing windows.

"Please be aware of what your children are up to because it could be them that get hurt by being in places they shouldn’t be."
