AN actor from Bolton who "lit-up" the stage has died at the age of just 28-years-old.

West End actor Daniel Bolton's death, after what is understood to have been a short and unexpected illness, was announced on Saturday by his talent company.

Tributes have been pouring in for the actor, who developed his talent on Bolton's celebrated amateur dramatic scene.

Paul Cohen Chairman of Bolton Amateur Theatre Societies described him as a very talented actor who would light up the stage with his performance.

And the last performance of Sister Act by Bolton Catholic Musical and Choral Society in the Albert Halls on Saturday was dedicated to Daniel.

Daniel starred in a number of West End shows, including Crazy for You and Bend it Like Beckham and Fiddler on the Roof, which was directed by Craig Revel Horwood, in 2014.

His Crazy for You co-star Caroline Flack called the young man the "kindest, funniest and the most beautiful", saying "life isn't fair".

On her Instagram she said: "Sometimes in life you cross paths with people who really touch your heart.

"Dani was one of them. You really knew the art of living... and looks like everyone is going to miss you."

Talent company, Belfield and Ward, announced the death, saying: "With heavy hearts and huge sadness we have received the news that our dear Daniel Bolton lost his courageous fight yesterday.

"He was a huge talent, immensely gifted and a gentleman. We send immense love to his family and friends.

"A bright bright light snuffed out far too soon."

Daniel, who grew-up in Horwich, took to the stage at a young age, joining St Philip's Workshop, part of St Philips Amateur Operatic Dramatic Society, and starring in shows by BCMS and other societies.

Mr Cohen said: "It is such sad news and such a shock.

"Daniel was seven or eight when he joined Bolton Amateur Theatre Societies before he went on to drama school and starring in high profile shows. His talent alway shone through, when he was in a show you knew it was going to be a quality. He lit up the stage."

Memorable performances on the Bolton's amateur dramatic circuit, include BCMCS's The Mikado.

He added: "When he was performing in Bolton he would always encourage the young people who were coming through and a role model to them.

"Daniel was always unassuming and down to earth and made a lot of friends through the amateur scene."

Betty Laine OBE, founder and principal of Laine Theatre Arts, said on Twitter: "RIP dearest Danni, so kind, loyal, multi-talented, courageous to the last.

"You were loved by all for your shinning spirit, always supporting people along the way. You deserved all the success you achieved and we shall always be Crazy for Your."
