A COLLECTIVE of public and private sector organisations has walked away with the Community Award for their efforts in improving the lives of the town most's disadvantaged residents.

Bolton Family brings together more than 30 organisations, including Seddon, Bolton FM, Warburtons, Bolton Wanderers Foundation Trust, Asda, Keoghs solicitors, Bolton at Home, Barkers LLP and Barclays.

It has been going and growing for four years, working closely with the voluntary and charity sectors to address local need. Since forming, it has worked on several community projects closely collaborating with charity organisation Urban Outreach which works alleviating food poverty, homelessness, training and employment to underpin the Bolton 2030 vision.

The group says the work is not just about money, but a commitment in time, energy and ideas to achieve measurable and substantial results, working with the town’s strategic needs.

After winning the award, Rachel Mitchell-Denson, of Keoghs, declared herself 'made up'.

She added: "This is a reflection of what the Bolton Family aims to achieve.

“By coming together collectively to benefit the local community, we hope to have a wider reach than just working individually. It has been going for four years now and it is nice to receive this recognition.

“This is such a fantastic event. The one thing Bolton does not do is celebrate its success, so it is nice to be here to do that.”

Vanessa Barlow, Socially Responsible Manager at Seddon, added: “It’s great to be able to celebrate this partnership that has repeatedly come together to improve the lives of tens of thousands of people."
