A MAN who was left in a coma after an attack in a pub has undergone surgery to save his life.

Simon Perry, a 31-year-old father of two, remains in a coma after the assault in The Spread Eagle pub in Manchester Road, Kearsley on Saturday, September 29.

Despite successful surgery on Sunday, his condition remains critical but stable.

Today, his family praised the efforts of hospital staff on the critical care unit who are continuing to care for him.

Writing on social media his wife Amie Perry said: “”He has undergone the highest possible surgery which is helping him to fight for his life.

“He has still to get through the next few days, which will be critical for him, but he will do this.

“He is in the best place with some of the most amazing doctors and surgeons you could ever wish for.”

She added: “I will make sure he never gives up.”

Mr Perry, a site manager with housing developer Bellway Homes, was assaulted by another customer at the Spread Eagle pub around 11.15pm on Saturday.

Mrs Perry said she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for her husband.

She said: “I would just like to thank absolutely everyone who has taken the time to send us well wishes.

“Your messages are keeping me going.”

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

The pub’s management, who took over only two weeks ago, expressed their concern for the man’s welfare.

They said their “thoughts are with the man and his family at this difficult time.”

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information should contact police on 101, quoting reference 2538 of September 29, 2018.
