A SPECIAL screening of a new dark comedy starring Manchester's Michelle Keegan will take place at The Light Cinema tomorrow (Friday 5 October).

Strangeways Here We Come is Michelle's first feature film and tells the tale of a group of Salford high-rise residents who conspired to get their revenge on a loan shark and is being shown ahead of its general release later this month.

The film is described as a "We-dunnit' that cackles with wicked laughs, wild parties, community spirit and grisly twists and turns right up to the last second" and likened to a cross between Shameless and Shallow Grave.

The film also stars a multi-award winning ensemble cast including Nina Wadia, Elaine Cassidy, Stephen Lord, Chanel Cresswell, Oliver Coopersmith and Lauren Socha.

The film will be followed with a Q & A with actress Elaine Cassidy and her husband, actor Stephen Lord who as well as starring in the film is also a co-producer. Elaine is currently starring in the outrageous Channel 4 TV series No Offence and has just received rave reviews for her performance in Brian Friel's play the Aristocrats at The Donmar and Stephen Lord, best known for roles in East Enders and Shameless.
