BOLTON'S legendary Thai Boxer is made-up — quite literally — with his new role in a new British action horror film.

Sandy Holt is seen as never before in Redcon-1, as he is transformed into a creature of the dead for the movie.

Redcon-1, which is now showing in cinemas, and to be shown at Vue in Bolton tonight (Saturday), is set during a zombie apocalypse spreads from a London prison.

The South East of England is quarantined from the rest of the world, with Special Forces soldiers sent on a mission to the city to get the scientist responsible for the outbreak who is the only of stopping the virus — by any means necessary.

Sandy, a martial arts expert, was invited to get involved by friend Mark Strange, who stars in the film. And he was asked to bring his students — Nathan Levis, Rio Brooks and Nigel Green and partner Hayley Petryna,to the shoot where they joined the cast as extras because of their martial arts skills in the fight scenes.

Sandy, who owns Bolton Thai Boxing Club, said: "I appear as one of the army soldiers and can bee seen sat in front of a tank.

"In another part of the film I have become a zombie. I know Mark through martial arts and this film has been a massive project, starting three years ago.

"There is me and four of my students of martial arts. We were all special extras because we actually have scenes and are not just seen in the background."

He added: "The make-up was done by one of the artists who worked on Harry Potter. It took about an hour and when I saw myself I though I looked scarily good!"

Sandy said: "We would be on site from 8am in the morning until 9pm and then we would all drive back with our make-up still on with drivers seeing five zombies in a car!"

Filming took place across the UK as well as local quarry on the moors near Oldham over winter in the cold and rain.

This is the second film Sandy has had a role in having been in Highbinders, Jackie Chan's 34 million dollar film.

But Sandy has no plans to take a break and may it big in the movie world.

He said: "It is great to go on a film set and see how films are made first hand, and being a part of that but being an actor is very challenging, it is physically and mentally challenging. You have to be on set first thing and finish last thing at night, out in all weathers and ready when you are called."

Bolton's silver screen stars enjoyed the red carpet treatment at the Vue in the Printworks in Manchester for a special premiere.

The film will be shown at Vue Bolton tonight and a special showing on October 12, which will be followed by a question and answer session with actors and directors of the film.
