AMAZON in Bolton held a special pyjama party at the fulfilment centre in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The team joined a global movement called #GoGold and linked in with colleagues in Amazon sites around the world to host a #PJammin ® party in support of families affected by cancer.

The theme paid tribute to brave children with cancer who can spend a long period of time living in their pyjamas during treatment and recovery. Gold is the colour of the ribbon that is the international symbol of childhood cancer.

During the event the Amazon team in Bolton, along with Amazon in Manchester and Warrington, made a £3,000 donation to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, with the money going towards Ward 84, the oncology and haematology ward at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to help make life that little bit easier for the young cancer patients treated on the ward.

Paul Ashraf, general manager at Amazon in Bolton, said: “Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital does vital work for the children in our community and we wanted to support them and the families who rely on them with this event. It’s great to be able to join forces with our Amazon colleagues not only here in the UK, but around the world, as we seek to raise awareness and provide support for children and families impacted by childhood cancer.” Penny Hamer, of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’re glad that the work being done by our hospital is being supported by the local Amazon team and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at the local fulfilment centre for organising the party and providing this support.”

The event and donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
